Monday, May 27 1996 Denver CO
Carol - Sean Griffin’s new home. me & Matt went to Perkin’s Family Restaurant on Colfax Ave for breakfast. I’m still feeling real shitty. spent $15 on bad over-priced breakfast food and went back to Sean’s new house. Roman was just waking up and Zeph was still asleep. Sean was making greasy fries. it was a little awkward but it was fun playing in the backyard. there were this short and small dog and 2 cats. i wished that ruby was there to play with these other animals. none of us ate Sean’s fries. Sean seemed to be doing better not playing in the band. we left to go check in to a motel. we are not playin till tomorrow night. Sean said he would come see us at Lion’s Lair.
Zeph got the money Ashley wired him. me & him split the cost of the motel. driving down colfax we saw a bunch of Korean markets. we checked into Top Star motel. the weird paranoid woman at the desk thought me & Zeph were married becuz we were the only ones she saw. the room smelled terrible. the TV was fucked up and no remote. it had a pink square bathtub. i got mad at Matt becuz he didn’t want to go find food with me. Roman took Matt’s side and i told them to fuck off and left the room. Denver is cold and cloudy. i ended up at a good will store. it was pretty big but there was nothing good there. i tried on a couple of jackets and contemplated buying them but stopped myself from spending money. we ate horrible Chinese take out for dinner. the chicken in Matt’s moo-goo-gaipan wasn’t even cooked all the way. so Zeph went back and exchanged it for shrimp chow mein. took a shower, cut Matt’s hair and Zeph’s hair, watched TV and fell asleep.
Matt - Pretty cool. this show was at Lion’s Lair. Drinks. And all the excitement of drinking, with the bands playing above the bar. Roman went off and was dancing above and behind the bar. The door guy put us up and then we got a cheap motel and ate bad chicken and were getting sick and watching a Buckminster Fuller documentary a few times.
C - checked out. it was raining and cold. me & Matt got into a fight at some truck stop. i was in a really bad mood when i woke up this morning. Nyquil i took last night is still kicking and making me feel delirious and groggy. anyway, we spent the entire day that way. Zeph sold his bike for $80.me & Matt went to a Korean restaurant on colfax. we ordered spicy fish soup. i didn’t have much of an appetite. the food wasn’t very good either. lion’s lair is a bar bar. we played with a band called Social Joke. the drummer from that band came up to me and talk to me for a long time. we played pretty good. we got good drinks. Irish coffee was awesome. i got something with Midori and it was awful. tasted like Nyquil. we videotaped the show. afterwards we went over to IHOP and had some coffee and food. i think we got paid pretty good. the guy at lion’s lair let us stay at his house which was only a few blocks away from the bar. he had some pot. his name was Matt but i think people called him “chu.” he had 2 roommates. i don’t remember their names but one drove a cab. they were an odd trio. the taxi driver told us about a friend of his who’s in jail for possession of 65,000 hits of acid. they had a pretty cat.
