Party at the Barn w/Barnyard Slut
Matt - Lightning storm; slide show. This was one of the best times ever. Probably my favorite show ever. Lots of kids and we were all freaking on the thunderstorm that started midway through our set. Water everywhere. It was one of those scary Oklahoma storms. Barnyard Slut’s last show. We stayed with Dan and Todd. The Duelists played first. Their old house.
Zeph - This place was an actual barn in someone’s back yard.
Carol - so we got to Norman, Oklahoma around 4 in the morning. we are staying over at this guy Dan’s house. him & his friends used to be in Rocket Attack USA. these are the kids who dig Chevy Heston a lot. anyway, we got there and crashed. woke up around noon. we drank coffee and smoked lots of cigarettes until we got real hungry. Dan made pasta for all of us and it was very yummy. after that, Todd, another guy who lives here and an ex-member of rocket attack brought us to all the record stores in Norman and Oklahoma city. not much luck in Norman but we sold 6 CD’s for $5 a piece in ok city and it was good. muggy and hot here. it rained last night. Norman’s pretty cool. i wouldn’t wanna live here or anything but it’s pretty cool for Norman. it’s a college town so there are some cool kids here. i like Dan & Todd. they are real sweet to us. they both work at this grocery store so we stopped by after they went to work and got a case for $1.08! got to the barn where the party is gonna be at. a special party for us and this other band called Barnyard Slut. i didn’t really like them or their music. we practiced some songs from the first CH and cock in my pocket. i had to go into a house near the barn to use the bathroom to change and put make-up on. the house belonged to the guy who owned the barn and his wife was in the house and she didn’t like me using her bathroom.
Once the party got started a lot of people started showing up. the barnyard sluts played before us and i didn’t even see them play. it started to rain as were about to go on so the barn was packed. this guy from the flaming lips showed up and stayed for the most of our set. the video man brad did slide projection during our set. it was raining hard and i could see the lightening through the window while i was playing and it was very awesome. it was the best show so far on this tour. it doesn’t get much better than this as far as the shows go. the people loved us and loved our music. i was not very social and got bored after we played. we drove back to Dan & Todd’s afterwards. there were a few people who came over from the barn. everything was pretty low key. me & Zeph smoked out in the van shooting the shit. inside the house we got started on the whole hat on the bed number and it made Zeph to go out and get the Drugstore Cowboy from the van and we watched the part where Matt Dillon’s going on about the no dog in the house and no hat on the bed hexes. that was pretty much the end of our day in Norman, Oklahoma.
