Fumble/Hanging 'round
Sunday, May 4 1997 Cambridge MA WBCN Rumble Middle East downstairs
Zeph - This was the WBCN Rumble competition and we lost. We weren’t very competitive. It was our last show with Andre.
Carol - we lost. what can i say? we played against laurie geltman, standing on earth, cast iron hike and laurie geltman won. i guess we sounded bad. Mikie, Todd and Dave & Leah from cherry 2000 came to see us. Ross Humphrey did our sound. Matt and i went down to plymouth with Zeph.
Matt - One of the judges wrote that we were like a cold machine or something like that, and yeah, that’s kinda what I wanted to be. But we are tired and sick of each other. I was losing my desire to continue.
Andre - We played well. Six weeks on the road had at leastprepared us for a tight, quick run through of our set infront of a good size crowd, who probably couldn’t have caredless about us. Some creepy photographer from the Noise asked if he could take my picture and I said no.
Thursday, May 8 1997 Portland ME Zoot’s
Z - We hadn’t told André he was out of the band yet but we had told some other people and he found out. We went to pick him up for what would have been his last show and he came down and took his equipment out of the van and went back upstairs and shut the door. Mikey was living just around the corner so I called him. I knew he knew the Destroy songs. He came with us and it was a good set but of course no one was there. I think maybe Colin and Neil were there. It was also Aaron’s last show. He quit.
A - I deserved it. KVM had tipped me off the day of the show and I decidedto be spiteful and let them deliver my gear to my front door.
C - André’s out of the band. Mikie on bass. Aaron’s last show with us.
M - Time to change things up yet again, although nobody wanted to tell André. We were gutless. Mikey played this show with us after no rehearsal and I didn’t mind. We actually got some fresh grooves going, but no one was there. I thought there might have been a little buzz for us in Portland, ME because we had made a few records up there. But nope. Didn’t reach ‘em!
Thursday, May 22 1997 Boston MA Bill’s Bar w/Jack Drag
Z- The new band consisted of Matt, Carol and me, Mikey Welsh on bass and Todd Phillips playing guitar. The show was good. Steve Malone was there. A friend of ours had an irrational freak-out after our set and Ross gave her 20 bucks. Matt and Carol’s roommate Cookie got so drunk she puked in the van and Mikey had to carry her up to their apartment. It was her birthday.
C - played with jack drag with the new line up. it was a good show and we had a good time.
