Chevy Heston 1986-1998

between tours...

Saturday, July 19 1997 Cambridge MA Middle East upstairs

Zeph - We did this one without drums. Matt, Carol, Jeff Turlik and I sat in chairs and I just Sang with Matt. Our old bassist Winston was there and he loved it.

Sunday, July 20 1997 Boston MA Jacques’

Z - Same line-up as the night before. Jess and Jay and Jon Keay and Mattley among others in attendance and it went well.

Friday, September 5  1997 New York NY Nightingale’s

Z - Our CMJ show. We’d missed our set the year before because of engine trouble. It was the first time we’d played with Mikey and Todd or with drums since the show in Morgantown two months before. We played it with so much energy it was making us laugh. It was great. Many friends from Boston and New York and out west.

Friday, September 12  1997 Allston MA O’Brien’s

Friday, September 19  1997 Cambridge MA Middle East Upstairs

Matt - This was a single release party for our friends Cherry 2000. We played quite a few shows together in Boston.

Z - Craig Riggs and Darryl Sheppard were there. I think it was good.

Friday, October 17  1997 - Boston MA the Rat

Z - Our last show with Mikey and Todd. They were leaving the next day to go to Australia with Julianna H. We sounded great.

M - This was the end of a great incarnation of Chevy Heston as a traditional rock band. Goodbye. In just a couple days, we’d be leaving for what would end up being our last tour. Zeph and I programmed the whole set on my computer and the software we used (can’t remember) controlled an Alesis HR-16B drum machine. Which is kind of nutty because we had this computer and monitor set up just to act as a basic sequencer. But at least my voice, which was pretty weak, would be better heard. And we would have proper harmonies from Carol and Zeph.

A week before we left, I began to panic and I asked a co-worker, who I thought was a really cool kid, to play bass. After we tried her out, I was all ready to go, but Carol and Zeph shut my idea down.
